Choir rehearse weekly and perform in at least 3 school concerts every year. No audition is required and no need to sign up. Just come along to the music room on the following days and times:
Years 2 and 3: Tuesday lunchtimes
Years 4, 5 and 6: Tuesdays at 8.25am
Boys choir: Wednesdays at 8.25am
Boys can choose to come to the main choir rehearsals, boys choir or both. We sing songs from a variety of styles and children are encouraged to choose their favourite songs to sing.
Recorder club
Recorder club is free of charge and all children from years 5 and 6 are welcome to join. Recorder club takes place during Wednesday lunchtimes and a letter/email will be sent when places become available. Recorder club performs in at least 3 school concerts every year.
Instrumental lessons take place after school and we currently offer lessons in drums, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, piano and violin.
We have a number of clarinets, saxophones and violins which we loan out for free. Subsidised lessons for families on low incomes are offered for clarinet, saxophone and violin.
During Year 4 all children learn to play the violin during their class music lesson with a specialist teacher. These lessons are free of charge and all children are given a violin to practise on for the year. Parents are invited to a violin concert at the end of year to hear all children in year 4 perform their violin music.
For more information about music clubs and instrumental lessons please contact Laura (Music Teacher and Music Curriculum leader) via email to the school office.
Music Hub Music Education Islington
All children from years 2,3,4,5,6 are welcome to join a music hub run by Music Education Islington, which takes place on Mondays after school at Arts Media School Islington. Children can choose an instrument to learn and are taught ensemble playing skills, musicianship skills and perform in concerts at the end of every term. Subsided lessons are available for children from families with low incomes. Our teaching assistants walk the children down to the music hub and stay to support them.
