How we implement our curriculum
Subject leaders in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team are responsible for the implementation, design and delivery of the curriculum. Subject leaders monitor the standards in their subject and are responsible for subject resourcing and disseminating the professional development they receive, alongside Senior Leaders.
Continued Professional Development (CPD) on the content and delivery of different subject areas is planned within the academic calendar. Subject leaders and the Senior Leadership Team identify additional training needs through their monitoring and evaluation. At Ashmount we actively encourage and facilitate the sharing of good practice and provide CPD for all staff based on our school priorities.
Our curriculum in planned in the following ways:
At Ashmount we use different schemes of work across different subject areas in order to ensure progression of knowledge and skills, coverage of objectives and high quality teaching and learning. On the subject pages you can find out more about the schemes of learning that we follow at Ashmount.
Teachers use both formative and summative assessment to assess how well pupils have mastered learning objectives. Formative assessment is assessment for learning which is ongoing and happens daily. Summative assessment is assessment of learning and involves more formal assessment, which may include testing.
