School Policies

Home > About > School Policies

A list of our policies and codes of conduct that govern the school.

Anti-Bullying Policy

Explore
Children and young people at Ashmount enjoy many rights. These include the right to be safe, enjoy and achieve and make a positive contribution to school life. Ashmount maintains a caring approach to children and any form of bullying, physical, verbal, racial, homophobic, sexist or other type of harassment will not be tolerated.

Attendance Policy

Explore
We believe that children cannot learn if they are absent from school. Therefore, we aim to ensure that all our children take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them and to raise standards by promoting regular attendance and punctuality of pupils.

Charges, Voluntary Contributions & Remissions

Explore
We are aware that under the Education Reform Act 1988 that no charge can be made for education in school hours and that every child has the right to receive free school education. Also, we believe this policy complies with the Education Act 20002.

Complaints Policy and Procedure

Explore
Ashmount Primary School values feedback from parents, carers and members of the local community about services relating to the school, including complaints. Dealing with complaints can help the school and the governing board to improve services. The procedures below set out how we will consider complaints fairly and in a timely manner.

Emergency Management Plan

Explore
Civil emergencies in London in the last few years, possible worldwide medical pandemics and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 require schools to ensure that suitable procedures are in place to respond to emergencies.

Intimate Care Policy

Explore
We believe intimate care is any activity such as feeding, oral care, washing, changing clothes, toileting, first aid and medical assistance, comforting and support, and supervising intimate self-care that is required to meet the personal needs of a child regularly or during a one-off incident.

GDPR

Explore
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Like all organisations that keep or process personal data, we have been updating our systems and policies to take account of the new general data protection regulation (GDPR); which applies from the end of May 2018. The regulation gives more control to individuals over their personal information. It also places far more responsibility on organisations that collect and hold personal information to keep that information safe and secure.

Managing Medical Conditions in School

Explore
We have a legal duty under the Children and Families Act 2014 to support pupils with long-term medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma and epilepsy, and we will ensure that these children have full access to the curriculum, all sporting activities and educational visits so that they can play a full and active role in school.

Pupil Behaviour and Discipline Policy

Explore
We have a duty under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 to have in place a behaviour policy that is consistent throughout the school.

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

Explore
Ashmount recognises the importance of creating and maintaining a safeguarding culture that will help all pupils to feel safe, secure and respected; encourage them to talk openly; and enable them to feel confident that they will be listened to. We are committed to providing an environment where children can play, learn, develop and achieve and where they are safeguarded and are enabled to disclose if they are being harmed in some way. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that all pupils receive effective support, protection and justice.
